Re: trouble with Z-axis binding on Y rods

Took me a while to catch up here, but I got everything together and have severe binding as well. I also get about 4"-5" from the side when it binds up and no amount of force will move it. I have taken it apart and cleaned the rods twice, but just came back here to see if I remembered correctly about...

It recently occurred to me that the quote I got was for exactly the existing tabletop, in aluminum. Duh. It could obviously be much thinner and probably far less expensive! Maybe 1/4" thick? I wonder if folks who are running theirs can say which parts are most in need of replacement with a stiffer o...

Excellent setup! I really like the enclosure you built for that. I noticed that you have a groove cut into the table surface (I think Dale Craven does too) I also saw these in the tutorial. Are those a standard size for mounting pieces down? I would like to add those as well. Are people cutting the ...

Looks great! I like that it also adds stability. Do you know what the pricing for these will be for current CNC owners to upgrade?

The first estimate I got, for a flat slab of aluminum, with the holes in it, was around $275. It seems like something that could be purchased already cut to the outer dimensions and then have user-drilled holes with countersinking. Maybe then the underside could be cut out to lighten it up?It's not ...

Mounting controller box?

 by GVardaman ¦  Fri Nov 25, 2011 2:44 am ¦  Forum: Machines & Setup ¦  Topic: Mounting controller box? ¦  Replies: 0 ¦  Views: 36187

I don't see any reason why you couldn't, but I wanted to confirm that the controller box and be set on it's side or mounted to a wall on the cabinet where I am setting up my CNC.
Just in case there is some consideration for heat dissapation or something that needs to be taken into account.
Thanks!

Sweet! What abut a fie for your logo or whatever that one premium was from Kickstarter? I think it was like a $5 or $10 pledge and you got a logo cut from wood or plastic. Seem like a good file for testing, since it's already setup for the machine and the software. I am very happy to hear about the ...

Cool! Where do these go?

Never mind, I see in the build instructions, they replace the threaded rod under the surface of the table. I thought they were replacing a wooden part, hence my confusion.
