is there still going to be a hardware kit available to add to the building blocks?

Absolutely. In November we start production on MDF kits.

You are mentioning specifically MDF Kits, does that also imply you are planning on something else, like aluminum kits?

Yes. We will have something planned that can utilize the Building Blocks components and is also mostly aluminum in construction.
