The electronics that take the impulses from the computer and make the motors turn.

Hi,

I have a quickcut cnc without the electronics since I had mine from before. I would like to know what kind of stepper driver comes with the kit and how are the motors setup.

Also what kind of settings are used like, step size 1/1, 1/2, 1/8 or 1/16.

I have Nema23 276oz kelling stepper motors with 8 leads, setup in bipolar parallel configuration and Toshiba TB6560 3-axis driver running on 24V-8.3A supply.

Your setup is very similar to the setup we sold with the Kickstarter machines.

We sent out the boxes setup with 1/4 step pre-loaded.

The X and Y axis have lead screws with 5 teeth per inch. The Z axis has 12 teeth per inch.

At 1/4 step you are looking at 4000 steps per inch for the X and Y, and 9600 for the Z axis. (Assuming your motors have 200 steps per full revolution, or 1.8 degrees per step).

Use this formula:

TPI * (1/(MICROSTEP) * STEPS PER REVOLUTION = STEPS PER INCH.

So:

5 * (1/(1/4)) * 200 = 4000 (X and Y axis)
12 * (1/(1/4)) * 200 = 9600 (Z axis)
